'The Mister Keogh Morning Show' 6-9am KFM

Posted 24th September

Hi there,

I’m off on my holidays from today...

John Ryan is looking after the show for the next couple of weeks.

He’s got tickets for the Curragh to giveaway.

I’ll see you back on the radio, Monday 8th October...

Be good!

I know I’ve called for the end to Steve Staunton’s reign as Ireland boss, and expressed dissatisfaction with Rafa at Liverpool, but Chelsea’s decision to sack Jose Mourinho is unbelievable

I don’t know what is expected of managers these days…

In three seasons, Mourinho delivered two Premiership Titles, The League and FA Cup, and two Champions League semi-finals - Yet this was not enough to save him!

It’s a loss for the entire Premier League, we’ll all miss the Special One!

On today’s show, I asked, what’s next for Jose…

Check out Your Texts for the response.

Finally got a winner on the Buzz Word…

Well done to Liz Durkan who won €300 with Gilroy Tiles, Newbridge Road, Naas.

The answer to the Lisa Burke Buzz Word was Switzerland.

I’ve got to be honest; I’m getting just a little disillusioned with the Liverpool boss Rafa Benetiz.

Why were Liverpool so poor last night against Porto???

Steven Gerrard looked jaded, not his usual energetic self - It was almost as if he was saying to Rafa; you didn't start me at Portsmouth, so why should I even bother!

The Premier League is all Gerrard is really concerned about, along with most Liverpool fans.

Why did Rafa make so many changes last Saturday against Pompey? Was he saving then for last night’s game? If so, why were they so negative, and constantly giving the ball away?

If Benitez allowed Liverpool to play there could also be 6-0 away wins like the great home victory recently against Derby.

Come on Rafa… We could have won the last two away games easily if we had a little more purpose. Just give the players you paid so much money for, a chance to prove their ability.

No wonder Steven Gerrard looks despondent and disinterested when he sees his manager throwing away games with negative tactics…

I truly want Benetiz to succeed, but believe time is running out for him to deliver the Premier League title…

Hope you’ve had a brilliant weekend…

Congratulations to Kerry on yet another All Ireland football crown.

The least said about the rugby – the better!!!

Like everyone else, I’m baffled by Ireland’s poor performances in this year’s Rugby World Cup.

I suppose we’ve still in the competition and must remain positive ahead of Friday’s game.

I’ve uploaded the Eddie Hobbit Yes/No Quiz from Fridays show. Click here for Eddie’s phone calls page.

Posted 14th September

Friday already, hope you've had a good week…

Good luck to Ireland in the rugby tomorrow and of course both Kerry and Cork on Sunday on what we all hope will be a cracking All Ireland Football Final…

Don’t forget the Autumn Festival of racing this weekend at the Curragh also; let’s hope the weather stays kind.

I’ve had great fun all week with the Yes/No Quiz...

Well done to Mark Galligan, Noelle Kelly, Barbara Whelan, Bernie King and Martin Pierce who all lasted a full minute without saying either Yes or No. They all win family admission tickets for Sunday.

Eddie Hobbit challenged me to the Yes/No quiz this afternoon – He finally got me to say No after about a minute. I’ll post a link to the audio on Monday.

Until then – enjoy the weekend…

Although it pains me to agree with Eamon Dunphy, I’ve got to admit that I’m also of the opinion that Steve Staunton should be replaced as Irish soccer boss…

Eamo really annoys me the way he calls for the head of whoever the manager is at the time, (Big Jack, McCarthy, Kerr and now Stan).

I believe Kerr’s departure was premature, as there was genuine progress at the time, unlike now.

On paper there is not much difference between Ireland and Scotland yet look at the Scots - Top of a group that contains France and Italy!

Player for player I believe we are undoubtedly as good as the Scots - So what's the difference - It can only be one thing, and I'm afraid it’s the manager.

Even a very average Welsh team put five past Slovakia, while we struggle against some of the minnows of European football...

I think the FAI need to cop some flak for employing a manager with no top level experience. If we are to progress we need an experienced manager who can guide the good young players we have.

With Ireland's chances of qualifying of Euro 2008 now realistically over; I'm sorry to say I feel the FAI should act immediately; this would give the new manager enough time to prepare for the World Cup.

Posted 11th September

Well done to Mark Gallagan, the first person to beat me on the Yes / No Quiz...

Mark lasted a full 60 seconds without saying Yes Or No.

I’m doing two rounds of the quiz everyday between 4 and 5pm, with a chance to win family admission tickets for the Autumn Festival of Racing at the Curragh this Sunday up for grabs!

Good luck to all the contestants - it's not as easy as it sounds...

Poor Britney Spears... She’s just given her first major performance in three years, at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas, and it has been widely dismissed as a disaster.

Some pundits are saying that her performance will "go down in the history books as being one of the worst to grace the MTV Awards".

Some people are even saying her career is over!

I think the criticism of Britney’s appearance is way over the top…

Monday's headline in the New York Post, read "Lard and Clear," while one report I read said "The bulging belly she was flaunting was SO not hot,"

Let’s not forget that Britney Spears is now a mother of two and she should not be compared to what she looked like three or four years ago…

In an age where skinny models and skeletal actresses are under scrutiny for the message they're sending young girls, what does it say that we're criticizing a young woman for a little thickness around the middle?

Give the woman a break; she’s obviously going through a pretty tough time…

Hey there Delilah, Hope the weekend went well…

What can I say about Namibia – well at least we won the match!

I'm sure Ireland will improve, and who knows, it could still all end in glory...

A bad hair day for Eddie O'Sullivan!!!

It was a little like the soccer teams last gasp victory against San Marino a while back, and I suppose the old saying goes, a win, is a win, is a win…

Speaking of winning, I’m giving you a chance to win family admission tickets for the Autumn Festival of Racing at the Curragh this Sunday.

I’ll be playing two rounds of the Yes/No game everyday on K Drive. If you can last a full minute without saying Yes or No, you will win a family admission ticket for Sunday.

Also best of luck in the, Big Apple Super Holiday Giveaway with Bank of Scotland, (Ireland).

It’s your chance to win a family holiday to New York.

Stay tuned to KFM all week for more details…

I had great fun with this Brain Buster on Friday...

For the first time in ages there was no right answer. Quite surprising really cause you guys are usually very sharp!

Two twin brothers were born at the same time, in the same hospital, with the same father and mother.

YET THEY WERE NOT BROTHERS – Explain!!!

Well done to Kilkenny on yet another All Ireland Hurling title at Croke Park yesterday.

I watched the game and willed Limerick on to make a real game of it in the second half… It was not to be and the Cats were deserved champions.

Henry Shefflin lifting the Liam McCarthy Cup

Also looking very good for Liverpool, who are top of the table for the first time in five years…

With 10 home goals in a week, Fernando Torres looking like a bargain buy and Chelsea sipping up at Villa, I’m convinced that Liverpool are genuine Premier League title contenders this year.

Well, it’s weekend time again; we’ve had a crazy traffic day… If you’re off to the Electric Picnic Festival at Stradbally – Enjoy.

Also, best of luck to Limerick and Kilkenny in the All Ireland Hurling Final on Sunday afternoon…

Well done to Brendan Kelly who won the Champagne lunch for four at the Curragh on the Jockey OR Trainer Quiz this week.

I’ll leave you with this text from Cathal…

A donkey & chicken are out in a field when the donkey falls down a hole. The chicken runs over & jumps into the farmers BMW, ties a rope to the front & pulls him out. Next week they're out in the field & the chicken falls down the hole. He tells the donkey to run & get the BMW but instead the donkey walks over to the hole, drops his love stick in & the chicken climbs out.

Moral of the story:

When you’re hung like a donkey u don't need a BMW to pull a chick.

Have a great weekend

Reckon I picked the best week of the summer to take a week off and stay in the country.

Well guys, the weekend is here again...

I’ve got an extra reason to have the Friday Feeling, as I’m off for a week!

Dave McGrath with be looking after K Drive

Looks like the weather is going to pick up as well.

This is a medium range model for next Thursday which finally shows the Azores High making its way towards us...

Nobody is too sure how long it will last, but with high pressure building, there is considerable hope of a decent spell of late summer sunshine…

The chart is still 6 days away - so fingers crossed!

Talk to you Monday week – Be good!

The Queen of the Waterways at the Bridgewater Inn, Sallins was a fabulous night.

Congratulations to Denise Healy from Cut Bush who was crowned this years Queen.

Pictured below are (L-R) Denise, myself and the 2006 Queen Aoife Gorey.

The Sullivan Brothers also performed on the night

I’m gearing up for the Queen of the Waterways in the Bridgewater Inn, in Sallins tonight.

I’ll be interviewing the girls on stage from about 10pm. Pop down and say hello, it should be a great evening with the Sullivan Brothers also performing.

The Queen of the Waterways Festival takes place all weekend long in Sallins with a children’s art competition, a gardening competition and of course the Fancy Dress Parade…

This weekend also sees the start of the new Premier League season, the Dublin Horse Show continues, the All Ireland Football quarter finals at Croke Park and Padraig Harrington gunning for back to back Majors at the USPGA at Southern Hills in Oklahoma.

Whatever you’re up to, hope it’s a good one…

Still can’t believe the "Daphne" Buzzword went after just two days…

Well here’s the brand new Buzzword…

It comes once again from the studios of Sky Weather. This time it’s Lisa Burke

The Buzzword kicks off this afternoon at 5.10pm, starting at €100, thanks to Gilroy Tiles, Newbridge Road, Naas…

Posted 8th August

I can’t believe it’s gone already – two days, that’s all it lasted!!!

Well done to nine year old Nathan Curtis from Naas who guessed the buzzword was MUD… I say guessed, well that’s not entirely true, Nathan told us he was the biggest Scooby Doo fan ever, and actually remembered the episode – freaky what kids retain isn’t it.

Back to the drawing board for me, I’ll have a brand new Buzzword for you tomorrow.

Hi there, hope the weekend went well…

This week on K Drive I’m giving you a chance to win in a pair of premier admission tickets for the Curragh races on Sunday

Oh dear, its not looking good now is it? We really came excruciatingly close to nice summer weather this week, as the Azores High tried to nudge its way towards us…

How frustrating to get just a brief taste of what summer could have been like when the sun shone brightly on Tuesday. However the weather charts seem to suggest its all gone pear shaped, for the moment.

It seems to be on a knife edge as to how the remainder of the summer will shape up – but I remain hopeful of a decent spell of warm sunny weather within the next couple of weeks.

Hopefully it stays half decent for the Bank Holiday Weekend!

If you’re around Newbribge on Monday, drop by the Whitewater Shopping Centre where I’ll be broadcasting live on KFM between 11am and 2pm.

Whatever you get up to this long weekend, have a good one…

Hi there, hope the weekend went well… What a shocker it was to see the SUN actually shining brightly for a couple of hours consecutively.

The forecast as we approach August looks so much more promising that it has for some time.

Fingers crossed for a massive Azores High planting itself firmly over the country for the month – we truly deserve it for all the rain we’ve put up with since the beautiful early summer days we enjoyed in April and May!

Posted 27th July

I’ve just checked my Blog Archive page to find out when the Buzz Word actually started. Believe it or not it was May 17th

The post reads as follows…

I'm kicking off a new Buzz Word this afternoon...

I reckon this one could take a bit of solving!

It's a quote from Sky Weatherman Francis Wilson

Was that an understatement or what???

We’ve hit €610 now and still no winner… I’ve been checking world maps to see how many more possibilities are left. To be honest there’s not too many when you also consider the clues……

The Buzz Word returns on Monday, till then, enjoy the weekend...

I love it, I love it, I love it… Oh my God what a new stadium the Pool should have by the end of this decade. It’s truly stunning and very cheeky; the atmosphere will be awesome, particularly in the New Kop, which will hold 18,000 fans. I’ve seen nothing else like it in the world, well done to the designers...

With the new season only around the corner, I’m especially excited with the quality of Rafa’s new singings. I know Liverpool fans say it at the start of every new campaign, but this year I believe we will definitely challenge strongly for the title. Although admittedly Manchester United have bought well during the summer and will be, along with Chelsea, the one’s to catch… Fingers crossed eh…

Posted 23rd July

Hey there, hope the weekend went well…

I’m just so delighted for Padraig Harrington on winning the Open. For anyone who’s not a fan of spending an entire afternoon watching golf on the TV, I believe yesterday would have converted almost anyone to the magnificent spectacle golf truly is. Harrington’s victory aside, I reckon the drama and tension surrounding the closing holes at Carnoustie was the sporting highlight of 2007.

The incredible events of 1999, when Jean Van de Velde rolled up his trousers and climbed down into the Barry Burn were fresh in the memory as Padraig headed for the 18th tee with a one shot lead. It was like history repeating itself seeing the agony on Harrington’s face as the ball headed for water – Not once, but twice… You just wanted to pause the TV – rewind and give him another attempt at playing the shot.

Thankfully all worked out in the end and we had Irelands first Open champion since Fred Daly in 1947.

A thought for poor Sergio Garcia, will he get over this? I hope so, he deserves a Major title - however, he may well become the new ‘Monty’. Hopefully not, as he’s such a likeable guy!

As for Padraig, this could well be only the beginning after finally getting rid of the monkey on his back!

Hey there, Westport was great, thanks to Dave for looking after things.

The Buzz Word resumes at €530, plus I’ve got tickets for the races at Naas to giveaway all week. There’s also an overall BBQ package to 4 people up for grabs on Friday…

Hope you're not getting to depressed about the lack of sunshine...

Hey there, it’s Friday 13th – It’s bad luck to be superstitious, so I’ll not go there…

Hope you’ve had a great week despite the shocking weather!

So we had a fake week in Big Brother, JR Ewing’s hat was sold and the world’s tallest man got married…

Europe’s two big summer events continue over the coming weekend - the Tour De France and the Running of the Bulls. I was thinking they should combine the two – but I suppose it’s very hard to teach a bull to ride a bicycle!!!

I also see in Spain, women are demanding a female version of the “Running of the Bulls”, with cows instead of bulls. So here’s another wonderful idea -- here in Kildare -- the Association of Small People should announce plans for a “Running of the Hamsters”. Could be a laugh, all those hamsters on the loose in Naas!

I’m off to Westport for the weekend and won’t be back till Wednesday. Dave McGrath will be looking after you for a few days.

Talk soon

I’ll be playing the Oaks Winner OR Not Oaks Winner quiz everyday at 4.15…

While away for the week in Barcelona, you may believe I’ve missed the amazing news that the Spice Girls have reunited – Not true! The Spanish media were all over the story… I noticed the five girls pictured on the front pages of the daily newspapers. Needless to say, even with my limited Spanish, I was struck down with fear at the horrifying prospect of Victoria Beckham once again taking to the stage, or heaven forbid – the recording studio!!!

Although I believe the years have not been too unkind to the girls, I feel it’s perhaps time for a few new nicknames...

How about Sporty Spice as the Couch Potato Spice. Ginger Spice could be Garlic Spice. Baby Spice should be the new Nappy Rash Spice, and Posh Spice renamed Stuck-Up Spice.  Only Scary Spice hasn’t changed - She’s still scary.

Hey there, I’m back - was in Barcelona for the week, which was superb…

I’m told Liam looked after things very well, and that we’ve still no winner on the Buzz Word - Perhaps I might give out a few clues this week!

Oh boy do I have a great prize to giveaway on my return to action.

Fancy a brand new fireplace for the house? Well this could be your lucky week.

KFM has teamed up with Maynooth Kitchen Fireplaces and Granite worktops at the Square, Maynooth, to give you a chance to win a brand new fireplace.

In fact I’ve got a fireplace valued at €1200 to giveaway EVERYDAY this week on the show!

We've passed the midsummer point now - so it's about time I take a little break from the daily slog of having to put together a fantastic radio show every day. Guess who's replacing me for the week? Paris Hilton after her stint in jail - No. David Beckham, now that his Real days are over - No. How about Michael McDowell, who I believe has lots of free time on his hands - wrong again...

We've plumped for a true Hollywood superstar...

Ladies and Gentlemen may I present Liam Tutty

Liam will have pairs of West End Enclosure tickets for Budweiser Irish Derby with access to the Star Sunday Party Zone

Well done to Patrick Clarke from Kilcullen who won the VIP prize with the Silken Thomas, this week on the show...

See you on Monday WEEK - Good Luck!

One lucky person and three friends will win a fantastic prize for Derby Friday with Pre race food and beverages at the Silken Thomas before racing, transport to and from the racecourse, Premier Admission tickets at the races and VIP treatment at Tiger Lilys Nightclub.

I've also got tickets to give away for Naas Races, plus the Lilywhite Wedding and Classy Lass giveaways continue.

Finally, listen out for a great Wind Up this Wednesday...

Another week over, thanks for listening to the show… Today's broadcast marked an important anniversary for me.  It was exactly 18 years ago today that I decided to give up my career as a leading nuclear astrophysicist specializing in quantum aerodynamic cryogenics and lateral genetic bacterial synthesis -- and go full-time as a DJ.

Interesting seven days - we finally have a Government three weeks after polling day. Fair play to Bertie Ahern, elected Taoiseach for the third time in a row on Thursday.

If the Greens, PD’s and FF can get together I suppose it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that the Spice Girls have also settled their differences. Mel C has finally agreed to a reunion after initially being the only member to resist comeback plans – Be warned, they’re on the way back!!!

I also see Oprah Winfrey was named the world's most powerful celebrity today. The chat show queen topped the poll just ahead of KFM’s John Dunne. Speaking of John, looking forward to having him back from holidays on his lunchtime show next Monday…

I’ll also be back after the weekend with more chances for you to win a wedding dress with Classy Lass Bridal Emporium in Clane.

I’ll also have Curragh tickets to giveaway ahead of the Derby Festival. One lucky person and three friends will win a fantastic prize for Derby Friday with Pre race food and beverages at the Silken Thomas before racing, transport to and from the racecourse, Premier Admission tickets at the races and VIP treatment at Tiger Lilys Nightclub

So theres another week over…

Mixed week for George Michael fans… Some enjoyed a super night at the RDS, while others were left disappointed by the postponement of the second gig. For George himself, there was relief at escaping a prison term.

Speaking of prison, the Paris Hilton saga continues…

The celebrity heiress was allowed to leave jail yesterday, only three days into a 45-day sentence for violating probation on a drink-driving ban. One story goes that Paris was released after she developed a rash all over her body... I reckon it happens to her every time she goes more than three days without being photographed!!!

Of course, the main news this week, were the talks on the formation of a new Government. Don’t you feel a little sorry for poor Dan Boyle of the Greens, he seems to be their chief negotiator, however having lost his Dail seat, he’ll obviously have to take a back seat once the Government is formed.

However, my favourite story this week was the woman who was arrested at Stanford University. She was not enrolled at Stanford -- but she lived in the dorms, attended classes and pretended to be a student for eight months…

I feel at one with this classy lady - I am now in my 18th year of pretending to be a DJ.

Until Monday – Enjoy the weekend…
