'The Mister Keogh Morning Show' 6-9am KFM

So Bertie has decided to call it a day… Thanks to all who contributed to the K Drive poll to final a fitting song to coincide with his departure..!

Personally I wish him well in the future, be it in Ireland or possibly in Europe. I believe history will be kind on the man who presided over the country during the good days of the Celtic Tiger. He’ll be best remembered of course for his roll in the Good Friday Agreement, which has had an enormous impact on the wellbeing of the entire island. Of course, as we know, he’s made mistakes in the past, however I hope the Tribunal findings aren’t too negative on Bertie who I sincerely believe is an honest and decent man...

I know many people disagree and say good riddance to him - as the results of our poll suggest.

Here's the Top 10…

1. Frank Sinatra – My Way

2. Simply Red - Money’s to tight to mention

3. Johnny Paycheck - Take this job and shove it

4. Dire Straits – Money for Nothing

5. Juliet Turner – Take the Money and Run

6. Celine Dion - It’s all coming back to me now

7. Elton John - Sorry seems to be the hardest word

8. The Streets - Dry Your Eyes

9. From Sound of Music - So long farewell

10. Chicago - Hard to say I'm sorry

Hope you’re enjoying this short week…

Hard luck to Sharon Condon who did so well in You’re A Star and was very unlucky not to at least make the final. All the same I was very impressed with Leanne Moore the eventual winner. She pulled out all the stops in the final and deserved to pip Robyn to the title…

I see Eddie O’Sullivan has called it a day as Irish Rugby coach… Did he jump OR was he pushed??? - Who cares - his record was incredible, he’s been the most successful coach we’ve ever had... The only blot of course, was the failure to land the Grand Slam. All in all, it’s been a wonderful period for Irish Rugby and for the good times I say - Thank you - Eddie..!

As for his replacement??? I don’t know? Perhaps Declan Kidney or Jake White... Why not just leave it to Denis O’Brien - he'll sort it out for us..!

Well that’s been a busy week, but it’s here - St Patrick’s Weekend…

Enjoy the festivities and stay safe whatever you’re getting up to.

As for me, well it could be rather interesting on Monday if Sharon Condon wins You’re A Star on Sunday night..!

As you know KFM have been heavily promoting Sharon in the build up to the climax of the contest this weekend.

Live radio can be rather dangerous at times… On Thursday afternoon I announced (on the spur of the moment) that if Sharon Condon wins You’re A Star - I’ll present my St Patrick’s day show in the nip, apart from a pair of green socks..!

So come on guys - Vote for the woman who’s undoubtedly the best singer in the contest, and I promise to uphold my end of the bargain..!

Have a brilliant weekend!!!

Remember there are only two kinds of people in the world, The Irish and those who wish they are..!

Michael Jackson has refinanced his Neverland ranch to save it from being auctioned off, his lawyer says.

Jackson had been told that if he failed to pay $25m he owed on the California property, it would be auctioned next week.

Well now Michael has worked out a "confidential" agreement with an investment group which means he keeps the property!

How did he do it???

Not really sure, but yesterday I’m sure I saw Michael with a new nose -- it has a flashing neon sign advertising “Budweiser”.

Hey there, hope you’re enjoying the week and picking up a few winners at Cheltenham..!

It’s almost time for the St. Patrick’s weekend…

With all the Ministers off on the annual junket around the globe to celebrate at the taxpayer’s expense, I found this story with travellers in mind…

It happened at the airport in Munich, when Baggage screeners found a skeleton in a woman’s luggage.  The woman produced papers to prove she was legally transporting the skeleton of her brother to his final resting place, and was allowed to board the plane.

So here’s the thing - How would you like to sit beside a skeleton on a plane?

Perhaps it would make a pleasant change from the 600 pound sweaty guy with big elbows and bad breath I usually wind up sitting next to…

Hope they all have a pleasant trip..!

In the week that saw Big Ian Paisley call it a day as Northern Ireland First Minister and DUP leader - I see The Police are to hold an open-air concert at Stormont this summer.

The gig is being billed as their last ever appearance in Ireland and Paisley said it was a "fantastic coup" for the North.

I wonder if Sting and the lads could re-name themselves as the PSNI for the day...

This week’s strangest story came from Israel. A professor said Moses was probably high on psychedelic drugs when God gave him the Ten Commandments.

Actually, there were originally ELEVEN commandments.

But Moses threw away #11:  Thou Shalt Get Thyself To Rehab.

Have a greet weekend…

Don’t forget to keep voting for Sharon Condon on You’re A Star.

It was a close call last Sunday with Sharon amazingly in the bottom two. She needs every vote now in her bid to reach the final as it seems obvious that all other contestants have massive campaigns behind them. I feel this takes away from the contest, and shows what a farce telly voting really is. If they changed the rules to allow only one vote per phone it would help.

Anyway, politics aside Sharon’s very talented, as she proved by covering Mariah Carey's "Anytime You Need A Friend" on last weeks show. I’ve been playing the song all week on K Drive - It’s excellent and has received an extremely positive response from listeners.

So don’t forget to give your number 1 to Sharon Condon, on You’re A Star, Sunday’s at 6.30 RTE1

On a totally different note, how far would you go to avoid a days work?

Well, what about this for an interesting story..!  A dumb guy in Washington had a friend shoot him in the shoulder so he would get a day off.

Apparently the guy got himself shot to avoid a workplace drug test…

Well there’s a thing - the chap has now tested positive for stupidity.

Well done to Daniel Day-Lewis and Glen Hansard on their Oscar success. It was a marvellous night for the Irish and I’m looking forward to seeing 'There Will Be Blood' in the coming weeks.

This year’s Oscar show had lousy TV ratings in the US and now there’s a report that next year’s show will redesigned.

If I was redesigning the Oscars I would get a turkey to present the awards..!

Speaking of which, congratulations to Dustin on winning Eurosong.

To those like Dana who say it’s a disgrace, and we should pull out, I disagree…

Eurovision has become a bit of a joke in recent years, so if you can’t beat them - join them.

I’m sure there was a similar reaction in Finland a couple of years ago when they sent the monsters Lordi to the finals… Well as you know, they returned as national heroes.

Besides, even if Europe doesn’t get the joke, can he really do any worse than Donna and Joe, Dervish or Chris Doran?

Please, give the turkey a chance - I for one think Irelande Douze Pointe will top the pecking order in Serbia next May

Go On Ya Good Thing!!!

Couple of stories that caught my attention this week..!

Good luck to a stunt man that will attempt a record-breaking skydive...

Steve Truglia will jump from 24 miles up, and will reach a speed of 770 mph before pulling the cord on his parachute. If it works, he’ll get into the Guinness Book of Records for “Highest Parachute Jump”.

If it doesn’t work, I reckon he’ll be in the book for -- “Loudest Splat”.....!

Also, with the Minister for Education Mary Hannifin coming in for some slack recently, let’s have a moment for the US education sysyem..!

In California, a high school teacher admits he taught for 17 years WITHOUT being able to read or write.  How pathetic must the schools be in America???

A high school teacher who can’t read or write???

That’s almost worser than a radio presenter who don’t talk goodly.

Crisis - what crisis..! Liverpool returned to winning ways last night at Anfield with a 2-nil first leg win over Inter Milan.

Football is a funny old game - does the result mean Barnsley are better than the Italians?

So, all is well again, isn’t it??? Well I’m now too sure… The Premier League title is what really matters, and I can’t help feeling the last nights victory is just papering over the cracks of Rafa Benitez's shortcomings.

Maybe a change of manager wouldn’t be a bad thing at the end of the season, and if it happens, I’d love to see Rafa bow out in a blaze of glory… So come on lads, win the Champions League for Benitez - not to save his job, but to enable him to move on with his head held high.

Happy Valentine’s Day..!

That special day when your lover turns to you -- smiles -- and says those same words she says every February 14th:

“Honey, it’s time to take the Christmas tree down”.

A survey shows the average man spends about €100 on Valentine’s Day -- while the average woman spends about €50.

So guys -- later today -- when you’re with the one you love -- spending romantic time together -- be sure to whisper those very special words in her ear:

                   “You owe me €50"...

Hey there, I’m back from my week off in the Alps..!

What a week it was with wonderful weather and snow conditions…

On returning, I must say I was more than a little disappointed with the KFM sports department and the Irish media in general, on failing to report on my success in the “giant slalom downhill” at Zel em Zee, Austria..!

Representing your country on foreign soil is, in itself, a massive achievement… But to finish first in the “intermediate ski school class” of 10 students from all over Europe, deserves major recognition..!!!

I’ve since received numerous messages of congratulations and support from the sporting and political world…

I am truly privileged to represent my country on the world stage and look forward to next years Winter Olympics.

They’re dropping like flies in the US presidential race with former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Democrat John Edwards calling time on their campaign…

Giuliani pulled out of the Republican race for the White House after disappointing primary results in Florida.

Mr Giuliani announced he was giving his support to Arizona Senator John McCain, describing him as "an American hero"… Oh good God, I feel a song coming on… “Believe it or not” Now there’s a campaign song if ever I’ve heard one..!

Earlier John Edwards left the race without backing any of his rivals…

I believe that’s called “hedging your bets”, perhaps with one eye on the VP gig.

Edwards says his presidential campaign failed because the media ignored him.

I was going to write a joke about this -- but then I thought -- “Why bother?”

Of course it’s been another interesting week for Bertie Ahern when it emerged that the Taoiseach assisted Norman Turner in receiving a passport in 1994.

I was watching the various TV debates over the new revelations, and the tribunal proceedings in general, and was thinking about all the wasted time the politicians are spending on issues going back to the early 90’s… If they could put the same energy into the countries current economic affairs, we might just keep afloat during the choppy waters that lie ahead..!

Away from politics, and on a brighter note - We’re all doomed!!! A huge, out-of-control U.S. spy satellite will crash to Earth next month.

No need to panic..! Experts say there is a one-in-20-billion chance it will hit you… In fact, you have better odds of winning the lottery…

With my luck -- this thing will hit me THE DAY AFTER I win the lottery.

Most of this week’s news is about the Stock Market, Interest Rates and falling house prices… It all very confusing between the Fed, The Nasdaq, FTSE 100, The Dow, Sub-prime lenders and all those frantic dudes on Wall Street.

Of course the pessimists here in Ireland have been saying it’s been on the cards for ages… Well whoopee doo for them - hope they're happy now..!

It was hardly rocket science to predict that house prices would fall and the economy would slow down… If you’re waiting for a bus and someone keeps telling you it will be along in two minutes - eventually they will be right..!

I get fed up with the glass half empty merchants -who say we’re all doomed…

The glass is ALWAYS half full in my opinion, so c’mon - don’t panic about the economy.  It’ll work out...

After all, the hardest economic times are always the first twelve months of the year..!

Well there’s another week of madness over…

Britney Spears' parents have accused Dr Phil of betraying their trust by speaking publicly about his visit with their daughter.

Britney’ family say she has no intention of getting help from the television therapist… They say Britney and Dr Phil have nothing in common.

Well I object -- what about the bald head thing..!

Imagine if the Government here could control how we live our lives in the comfort of our own houses - well here’s a good one from the US…

The state of California may install a device in every home that gives the state the ability to control home thermostats.

Is this Big Brother, Nanny state gone totally crazy..! The whole thing has the potential to spiral out of control - What’s next -- a special remote control device that enables the state to lower your toilet seat if the man of the house forgets?

Oh speaking of California, what about this for a Hollywood story - Eddie Murphy and his wife have separated after 15 days..!

15 days - now that really takes the biscuit…

I hear word on the grape vine is that Pamela Anderson has called Eddie and said -- “When you’re ready for a long-term, two-month marriage -- call me”.

New England manager Fabio Capello is the subject of a tax investigation in Italy - but the English Football Association is confident he will not face any charges.

Italian prosecutors launched an inquiry into Capello's earnings as Juventus boss as part of a wider probe into allegations of corruption at the club.

The 61-year-old has assured the English FA his tax payments are all in order.

However in breaking news today - Both Enda Kenny and Eamon Gilmore have called on the Italian to step down!!!

I saw on the news this week that scientists are using gene therapy to mend knee injuries in mice.  They say mice sometimes hurt their knees while climbing on top of really big chunks of cheese..! Ok fair enough, that seems to be a noble cause alright.

However the really great news is that the scientists predict the new gene therapy will eventually help people with knee injuries.

I must say I'm delighted with the development, writing as someone with an old war injury......(well actually, I broke my knee while attempting the high jump at school..!)

Although I’m wondering after the treatment - will humans have an uncontrollable urge to run away from cats.

Just a thought…

This is the first time I’ve touched on US politics on this website… So here goes;

Democratic White House hopeful Hillary Clinton has defied pundits and pollsters by winning New Hampshire's primary, beating rival Barack Obama

There’s something very likeable about Obama and I’m beginning to favour him in the Democratic contest.

Seems to me that either Clinton or Obama will win the race for the White House once the party’s candidate is chosen…

I think both are much stronger than anything the Republicans have to offer, plus the legacy of Bush’s Presidency will surly see change in Washington.

In the overall context, I know Hillary would be a great President for Ireland’s interests if elected, but I’m wondering if she really is the right man/woman for the job.

Her win in New Hampshire's primary may be down to an extraordinary moment this week when she appeared close to tears as she talked about how much public service meant to her. (Yeah Right!!!)

My theory is that her campaign manager produced the tears by plucking one of Hillary’s nose hairs.

But of course that bit was off camera… God I’m cynical, huh…!

How’s it going on the first Monday of the New Year…?

Everything seems to be back to normal – I must have been in the KFM offices about two hours until I’d noticed that all the Christmas decorations had come down…

With the New Year here, I’ve decided to make a couple of changes to K Drive……!

There’s a new feature called Last Year’s News. It’s on everyday at 5.40pm, and does what it say’s on the tin! – A look back at some of the events from exactly 12 months ago.

Stephen Keogh’s Did You Know is also back from Next Monday – This time with Eddie Hobbit helping out… (Should be fun)

Thanks for listening in 2007, and hope you continue to enjoy KFM in 2008.

Posted 1st January 2008

Hi there, it’s January 1st 2008… Can you believe that, 2008!!! – doesn’t seem like eight years since we made the big fuss over the millennium…

Anyway, I’m in work today, mainly to build up my holiday days for the New Year.

I had a great year… During 2007 the boss only fired me six times - That was a 50% reduction over my 2006 firings!!!

It’s once again time for us to make our New Year Resolutions... Time to put the mistakes of 2007 behind us and look ahead to a bright new year -- full of bright new mistakes!

This year I’ve decided not to make any resolutions as I’m still working on a backlog dating from 1997.

The list from back then includes – Get Fit - Pay off Debt - Save Money - Get a Better Job - Get Fit - Eat Right - Drink Less Alcohol - Reduce Stress - Volunteer to Help Others and some others I’ve forgotten…

Actually I’ve just changed my mind – There is one resolution I’ll make for 2008......

After the show today I’m going to get out there and finally finish my Christmas shopping.

All the best for 2008

Stephen...

Well, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas – I’m back to work today and tomorrow, although still very much in the festive spirit…

Had such a good family Christmas myself… Thanks for all the warm wishes on the text and phone lines over the past couple of weeks, and a massive ‘thank you’ to all that dropped presents and cards into the radio station.

So onwards and upwards for 2008 – a year of new beginnings, new hopes, and new adventures…

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Well we all love the underdog, so fair play to Leon Jackson on winning the X Factor…

I didn’t vote for Rhydian in the end, mainly because I felt he didn’t need the title and have no doubt he’ll sell bucket loads of CD’s regardless…

Leon is practically guaranteed the Christmas Number One spot this year and deserved to win the final on the huge improvement he’s made during the series.

It’s hard to believe he’s only 18-years-old and best of luck to the lad in his future career.

I’ve loads to giveaway on the show this week - There’s lots of Go Racing in Kildare membership badges for 2008 up for grabs, plus membership to Leopardstown in 2008…

Posted 13th December

Well who do you reckon is going to win the X Factor final this Saturday???

As you probably know I’ve been a fan of Rhydian from the start, and hope he goes all the way.

Having said that, there’s no doubt he’ll be a major star regardless of Saturdays outcome - something I’m afraid can’t be said about either Leon or Same Difference - who will probably only have a shell life of about six months, at best!

Anyone remember Journey South, Steve Brookstein, Chico, Andy Abraham or how about last years finalists Ben Mills,(below, left) and what about that little guy from Liverpool, Ray Quinn… (below right)

(Did you spot the major artist ahead of last year's final?)

The real talent generally shines through in the end, and with Leona Lewis and Shayne Ward amongst the biggest selling artists in this years Christmas market, it shows what's potentially at stake for the contestants.

So good luck to them all... It should be a greats nights TV - I for one will be glued!!!

I sent off my letter to Santa recently and, guess what - I got a reply… Yippee, I’m sooooo excited……

Stephen Keogh,

Kildare,

Ireland

Dear Santy,

My name is Stephen.  I am a boy and I am already 38 years old!!  I live in Kildare.  Of course, that's in Ireland, but I'll bet you knew that!!  This year I've been so good that, well, ok, maybe my halo has been to the repair shop a few times this year.

Santy, some things I might like for Christmas this year are:
A New radio, with a BMW build around it, a winning lotto ticket and a surprise!!! Please, please, please…

Santy, I almost forgot to say - while you're on the roof--please throw down 3 Frisbees, 2 model airplanes, and the lid off the barbecue from when it exploded last June...

Love, Stephen

Here's the reply!!!

 Friday, December 14, 2007

Merry Christmas Stephen!

Thank you for sending me your email all the way from Kildare!  HO!! Ho!! ho!!  We get wonderful Christmas emails from boys and girls around the world but everyone at the North Pole sure gets excited when we get one from you Stephen!

Jumping Jingle Bells, Stephen!  Are you fibbing to ol' Santa Claus?!?  You can't possibly be 38 years old already!  Why it seems like only yesterday that I was leaving presents for a certain little boy and here you are now, practically one of Santa's elves! (*grin*)

Sorry the presents the last little while probably haven't been quite as exciting as they were when you were a little boy but, well, you know how these things go (*wink*).  Anyway, Santa's glad to see some of the 'older kids' (not to mention anyone in particular!) still take the time to write.  I also hear you've been a sorta good boy.  (Of course, you won't mind if I do a little checking, will you? HO!! Ho!! ho!!).

Let's see what you put in your letter for Christmas wishes: 1. new radio, with a BMW build around it; 2. winning lotto ticket and; 3. a surprise.  Aha!  You'd like a little extra spending money I see!  Well, the elves had to stop printing winning lottery tickets for me to give away when a nice police officer reminded me that is illegal!  Lucky for me the police officer is a good friend but I don't give away lottery tickets anymore!  (Well, okay, I have been known to give some away out of my own pocket but don't tell Mrs. Claus!  *wink*)

Well, it's time for Santy to go do his chimney exercises.  Up!  Down!  Up!  Down!  Have to be in tip-top shape for the big night!  Take care Stephen and don't forget to come back and visit me here at EmailSanta.com on Christmas Eve!!  And remember...  only 11 more sleeps until Christmas!!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas,

Santa.

Anyway, have a marvellous weekend, see you Monday…

In Rafa I trust…

Well Liverpool are still clinging onto their Champions League dream. All they need now is an away win against a fairly average French side, of which the Reds have enough quality to prevail.

On the bigger question of whether Rafael Benitez is the man to take Liverpool forward, I’m sticking with the Spaniard - regardless of qualification to Champions League last 16!!!

After watching Giles, Brady and Dunphy on the telly last night, I must say, I agreed with so much of what they said…

Why, oh why, does Voronin play ahead of Crouch?

I agree with the lads and believe Pennant, Hyypia, Sissoko, Kewell and Voronin should either be fringe players for Liverpool, or apply their trade elsewhere.

Andriy Voronin was bought on a free transfer, he scored a couple of belters at start of season and works hard for team but I don’t think he should be starting games, especially as important as last nights. Peter Crouch is awesome and shouldn’t be sold, he came on and changed the game, he needs to start more and form a striking partnership with Fernando Torres.

Although all this rotation and constant changing of the squad is very frustrating, I still believe in Rafa and think he's beginning to come around to conventional thinking.

The problem at Liverpool is not the lack of quality players - they've got a potential dream team. The problem is that they never have time to gel as a team because everything keeps changing, there's no consistency.

Had Porto won last night - Rafa probably would have been sacked, which would have been a complete tragedy…

It reminds me of early days during Alex Ferguson’s reign at Man Utd when the Scot also came close to getting the boot! The United board held firm and the rest is history.

Rafeal Benitez is, tactically, one of the best coaches in the world, and commands the respect of any footballer. He has also changed the youth system, bringing in a lot of young players - some of whom will hopefully make the grade.

I wish that all this speculation that he could be fired, due to the row with Tom Hicks and George Gillett would end immediately!

Every team needs cover and if your manager identifies weaknesses that he can address, then he’s doing a good job. Liverpool need cover in defence and Rafa also wants to sign Mascherano on a permanently deal. It’s just good business sense and hopefully the Americans will see it that way, and let him get on with the job!

Well there’s another week over and boy isn’t it getting Christmassy now…

Heather Mills is STILL making the news. Her contribution to the world this week - what a great statement:

Our planet is doomed unless we stop eating meat, dairy and fish, and (this is the best bit) we should all be drinking rat’s milk!

Heather, get back on this planet, it will never happen -- and I’ll tell you why:

Rats are too low to the ground for the farmer to get his milking stool under!!!

On a different note, great story from the States this week - It’s about the woman in Florida who Googled her husband’s name and discovered he was hiding a 10 million dollar lottery win.

Imagine this guy thought he could hide the windfall from his missus - how could he believe she would not notice the new car, yacht, designer cloths or whatever else he’d be tempted to buy.

Goes to show, however, with the internet, there’s nothing private anymore… Oh now there’s something extra for me to worry about - I hope my family never Googles my name and finds out I’m a DJ.

They actually think I have a good job…

Until Monday - Enjoy the weekend and good luck if you’re starting the Christmas shopping…

Dan & Becs has been a huge success and has completed its second series on RTE2. Dave was on to plug the release of the DVD, which is now on sale. (Now there’s a great Christmas gift idea)

Dave’s been a friend for many years now - he went to college with Susan…

Bizarre story of the week comes from the States, surprise, surprise!!!

New York City has a plan to get rid of the city’s pigeons… It’s obviously a major problem, what with all that bird poo poo all over the streets and statues.

The most incredible part of the story - under a new law people who feed pigeons could also be arrested…

I can just see the cops on Time Square…

What a busy week on K Drive…

I’ve giving away loads of vouchers for the Whitewater Shopping Centre on the Yes/No Game, and congratulations to Shay Connolly who won the €1,000 voucher, which I’m sure will come in very handy with the Christmas shopping.

Another €1,000 spending spree in Whitewater Shopping Centre up for grabs next week on the show - this time with thanks to AIB

Don’t forget Classic Tracks Trivia also gets underway on KFM from Monday morning…

Have a great weekend

Well there’s another week over, another week closer to Christmas as well… Oh my God can’t believe I just wrote that word - first time I’ve done so on this blog…

By the way, I’ve got a €1000 voucher to giveaway for the Whitewater Shopping Centre next week on the show. To win, all you gotta do is take up the Yes/No game challenge…

So enjoy the weekend, as the Heineken European Cup resumes, Pakistan remains in crisis and the Hollywood writers strike continues.

It’s getting serious now - some of the big shows now seem to be under threat…

The cast of Grey's Anatomy have joined the striking writers on the picket line.......It’s kinda like when George refused to pass the nurses picket line on season two of the show… Only this time it’s for real!!!

Sandra Oh, who plays Dr Cristina Yang in the series, said the matter was "way too important" to ignore.

There’s just one thing that’s bothering me, and I believe it’s a question worth asking......

If the writers are on strike -- how come they’re not carrying blank sings...??

That’s it - have a wonderful weekend…

For a complete explanation of all the jokes on my show this week -- dial
1-850-ANNOYING-DJ. (Calls cost €10 per second, and all monies raised go to me)

Hi guys,

As you probably know I’m currently running a Web Poll to find the best wind up.

As a result activity on this website and in particular the Wind Up Wednesday page has increased immensely...

This is great, however it’s also caused me some problems……Poor Stephen - I hear you say!!!

Well, I’ve been busy trying to sort out the hitches, and believe all is now in order.

When you want to listen to a wind up - just click, and this will open up a new page… The audio will then be automatically available to play.

Thanks for all the votes so far… Keep them coming!

Hope this Hollywood writers strike doesn’t cause much disruption to my favourite TV shows.

Reports suggest that episodes of the fourth series of 'Lost' could now be delayed.

So far, the Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno have become the first casualties of the strike which is threatening to bring Hollywood to its knees.

Let’s hope the strike won’t affect the big shows.

Can you just imagine an actress who’s pregnant for about six months - With the writers on strike -- the baby might not arrive for another two or three years!!!

Speaking of Hollywood, let’s hear it for Katie Holmes who successfully completed the New York City marathon

Tom Cruise was on TV last night saying he’s proud of his wife. Tom said everybody should know how to run...

That’s right Tom - especially when the alien space ships arrive!!!

Halloween is a bitter sweet celebration for me.

It brings back memories of the time I was only six years old. I was sent out Trick-or-Treating, dressed as a DJ.  I got lost.  I never found my way home.  I wandered the city.

Finally I was taken in by a radio station manager who didn’t know about child labour laws...

And the rest is history.

             Happy Halloween!!!

Hi guys,

I’ve added a couple of new pages to the website…

What do you think is the best wind up phone call I’ve done?

Perhaps it was cancelling that poor chaps wedding band, maybe the guy who went mental when I told him his trailer was too big for the car ferry, or when I was looking for ‘extra services’ from the cleaning lady…

Well now you can help pick the best Wind Up!

If you’ve not heard all the calls – and if you've got a spare half hour, or so, – have a listen and then simply vote for your favourite... They’re on the Wind up Wednesday page…

You can vote on the Wind up Poll page…...!

I’ve also got a new musical feature on K Drive every Tuesday evening…

Check out Number Two Tuesday between 6 and 7pm.

I’ll continue to upload the playlist on a weekly basis…

Number Two Tuesday

The Paul McCartney / Heather Mills divorce in once again getting loads of press coverage this week as the couple has, as yet, failed to reach a financial settlement…

Paul’s new album is titled “Memory Almost Full”.

I think he should start working on a follow up already – maybe the post-divorce album could be called “Bank Account Almost Empty”.

As for Heather – I hear she’s in America talking with producers about turning her life story into a movie…

Heather wants a Hollywood A list actress to play her in the film...

So far they’ve all refused to have one of their legs amputated……

SORRY!!! You just can’t beat the Heather jokes, can you!!!

I’m already hooked on the X Factor…

Best part, as always, the arguments among judges.

Louis and Simon are always at it, and although so many of the insults are staged for TV, it never fails to entertain.

The whole Sharon Osbourne outburst, and the, will she / won’t she appear next week, receives so much press coverage that the overall show is the real winner. I’m convinced it’s all contrived by Simon, who is the master of publicity and I take my hat off to him…

By the way, of the contestants, my favourite so far, by a long distance is Rhydian.

Come on the Riddler, come on the judges and roll on next Saturday night…

This week on K Drive, I slightly changed the show.

The Time Machine now airs at 4pm everyday and there’s an hour of great music at 6pm on the Classic Café.

What's the Question also resumes at 5.10pm and now stands at €160... For all the questions suggested so far click here.

Well that’s another week over…

I had great fun with the ‘Play Your Cards Right Quiz’.

Well done to Bryan Byrne, from Athy, who won a Table for 10 at the Casino themed Christmas Party at the Stand House Hotel.

I think this week’s scariest news came from the UK…

Instead of going to the dentist, some people are actually pulling their own teeth with pliers. It all sounds like Eddie Hobbit’s ‘DIY Wind Up’, doesn’t it!!!

In the survey - 6% of people say they have yanked out their own teeth…

I assume they used a local anesthetic – in other words, they chucked on a James Blunt CD!!!

Of course it could lead to a dangerous precedent…

I wonder if Black and Decker might now launch a “Do-It-Yourself Vasectomy” kit…

Ah, now there’s another idea for an Eddie Hobbit call!!!

Also in the UK, the Tate art gallery has a new exhibit.

Guess what - it’s a crack in the floor, and unbelievably it’s being admired as an artistic work. Art lovers are coming from all over to look at it… Amazing what passes for art these days.

If anyone is interested I’m thinking of charging €10 to look at the artistic fungus on my shower door.

Now there’s genuine ART…

See you on Monday

I actually cursed when Steve Finnan scored that last gasp equalizer for Ireland last night.

My initial thought was what the FAI would keep faith, yet again, with Steve Staunton following a draw, whereas had we lost they would have had no option.

Now there is a slight chance that Stan may be given a stay of execution... We may stumble on to third place in the group ahead of those mighty footballing nations Cyprus, Slovakia and Wales, and Steve Staunton can claim progress.

This is not the case – We are going backwards!!!

Come on FAI do the decent thing - NOW

Posted 17th October

As I’ve said before I believe Steve Staunton should be replaced as Irish soccer manager. A lot has been said about Stan rebuilding the team, fair enough he’s given some of the youngsters a call up, but is he really the man to take them onto the next level? - which is qualification for the 2010 World Cup Finals.

With the FAI standing by their man like Tammy Wynette, I reckon the only way they’ll act, is by Ireland ending the current European campaign on a low note…

It is for this reason, that I don’t want Ireland to win against Cyprus this evening!

I believe in the long run it would benefit Irish soccer. A lot has been said about finishing third in the group, to boost our seeding for the World Cup. However, I’d rather be seeded forth with a new experienced manager at the helm, than third seeds lead by a man utterly out of his depth.

Hi there, hope you had a wonderful weekend, wasn’t the weather just amazing… T-shirts in the middle of October - Fantastic!

Loads of stuff to giveaway on this weeks show.

I’ve got a Table for 10 up for grabs, at the Casino themed Christmas Party at the Stand House Hotel.

I’ll be playing the classic card game ‘Play Your Cards Right’ between 4 and 5pm, if you’re feeling lucky!

There are also tickets to win for the Curragh on Sunday, plus bottle of bubbly and a €50 Hacketts bet… All you’ve got to do is ‘Name the year’, from the horseracing clues, I’ll give you from 6.30pm.

What’s the Question continues after 5pm, and has hit €100.

So a busy week in store…

Posted 12th October

Well, there’s another week over…

I was thinking of starting a new feature on the show…

“Name the celebrity in jail”.

I’m only kidding of course, but isn’t it amazing the amount of celebrities who end up in the nick.

This week we learned that Kiefer Sutherland will do time behind bars for DUI.

Another actor who had a rough week was Kevin Costner...

Whitney’s former bodyguard says he’s almost broke after losing millions on environmental projects that didn’t work out.

This is really sad news for everybody.

Mostly because Kevin will be forced to make more movies!!!

Have a great weekend, see you on Monday…

I see the Rubik’s Cube convention was held over the weekend…

The current record for solving the cube is 9.86 seconds, set by a French guy.

Incredible isn’t it… less than 10 seconds to solve something that caused me so many frustrated hours during the 80’s!!!

By the way, I never actually managed to crack the Rubik’s Cube but I do hold the world record for peeling off the little coloured stickers and putting them back on so it looks like I solved the cube.

Two minutes 16 seconds - Amazing, I know, what a talent…

Hi guys, I'm back following a wonderful vacation in Puerto Banus, Spain.

I’ve posted some of my holiday snaps on the photos page.

We sure had a fantastic time with the weather mostly dry and sunny. However as this picture shows, Spain is always susceptible to a heavy downpour from time to time…

Anyway, it’s great to be back and rearing to go again...

I’ve got €100 vouchers to giveaway for the Furniture Depot in Naas, all week on K Drive.

Also, listen out for my new competition, What’s The Question…

Clues will follow on that one, and I’ll set up a link with all the questions you guys have suggested so far.

Talk to you shortly...

Stephen
